Zen Temple Koukenji Nagoya

"My trip to Japan "

In May 2016 I went to Japan for 3 weeks, invited by Maki T. to exhibit in Nagoya supported by the Unesco Design cities of St Etienne and Nagoya.
After lectures on textiles in the Rhône-Alpes region, I exhibited in a Zen temple in the center of Nagoya:
  • 7 wall hangings in wool and silk painted in Batik and embroidered with gold thread by Annick L'Hermine embroiderer from the book The Clock in the Shadow by JuÅ„ichiro Tanizaki.
  • 4 silk coats painted in Batik inspired by kimonos.
  • 3 Kesas (coats of Buddhist monks) in silk organza painted in Batik.
  • 1 Kesa in silk-cotton batik and shibori made for the temple.
